What it is
Re-roofing is replacing the roof covering entirely rather than repairing it. Sometimes a roof has had its last repair — the tiles are porous, the sheets are rusted through, or you're simply better off spending the money once. Converting an old tile roof to metal is one of the most common jobs, and it takes a heavy, high-maintenance roof off the house.

What's involved

- 02The old covering is stripped, the structure and battens are checked, and sarking is laid where needed
- 03The new roof is installed with new flashings, ridges and fixings — not the old ones refitted
- 04The site is cleared of old material and left clean
